EAL Level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: July 2018 (603/3298/0)
(18th Edition 1 day course)
Duration 1 day
The 18th Edition of the BS 7671 Wiring Regulations were published in July 2018. All electrical installations designed during and after January 2019 must comply with BS 7671: 2018 (18th Edition).
This course is aimed at anyone working in the electrical industry that want to prove that they are up to date with the latest IET wiring regulations.
From the 1st of July 2019 all Registered Electricians must be qualified to the 18th Edition of the wiring regulation (BS 7671:2018).
It is also a requirement for those applying for the JIB ECS gold card to have the latest BS 7671 qualification.
For more information about the Gold card or about being a registered electrician visit the ECS website ECScard.org or the JIB website JIB.org.uk.
Our 1 day 18th Edition course reviews BS 7671: 2018 wiring regulation book, concentrating only on the changes that have been made since the 17th Edition (3rd amendment). This course is only available for those that have passed the 17th Edition Level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical installations BS7671: July 2008 (2015). If you do not hold the 17th Edition with the latest amendment (3rd) then you will need to take the 3 day course. The same exam is used for both of our 18th Edition courses.
This course will only cover the differences between the 17th Edition to the 3rd amendment and the 18th Edition.
Method of assessment is a two hour long computerised exam.
The exam will consist of 60 multiple choice questions and candidates are allowed a non-Programmable calculator and a copy of BS7671:2018 wiring regulations with them during the exam. Candidates will have the option of carrying out a few mock exam questions beforehand to familiarise themselves with the software. The exam will be carried out on the same day as the course.
Please note that there is only one exam for assessing the 18th Edition level 3 Award in Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671:2018 qualification. While we offer a 1 day condensed course for the qualification the method of assessment is not condensed. That means the exam can cover the entirety of the BS 7671 book, not just the differences between the 17th and the 18th Edition. If you lack confidence or knowledge with the 17th Edition then we would advise you take the full 3 day 18th Edition course.
Candidates need to have completed the 17th Edition course with the latest amendment (3rd). Candidates must be over 16, and ideally have knowledge of electrical installation and electrical science.
A good grasp of English is also needed.
This course is primarily aimed at practising electricians, however those in an allied profession such as consultants, surveyors, and other related trades have completed this course in order to enhance their understanding of the IET wiring regulations. Candidates are also expected to bring with them their own copy of the Wiring regulations BS7671:2018 (18th edition).
Dates for our 18th Edition courses can be found on our Courses scheduled page.
