This qualification is for those that want to inspect and test electrical equipment and appliances and for those that have administrative duties that make them responsible for the maintenance of electrical equipment.

Electrical units
Equipment construction
Inspection and testing theory
Practical inspection and testing of equipment
Completion of relevant documentation

Assessment
To achieve this award you will  be required to undertake a practical assessment and an hour and 20 minute on-screen exam.  Candidates are permitted a copy of the 5th Edition of the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment during the exam.


Requirements

Candidates must be at least 16 years old.

Candidates must bring a copy of the 5th Edition of the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment with them.

Candidates must be familiar with electrical systems and the hazards of electricity. In order to pass the learning objectives and assessments candidates need to have a basic grasp of English and numeracy.
